Thinx Period Underwear

Thinx Period Underwear

Review

I’ve been concerned with the accumulated number of sanitary pads I’ll use and discard in my lifetime. Think about it – how many pads or tampons do you use every month? Year? Assuming you start your period at 12 years old, and menopause at 50, that’s a whopping 456 periods in your lifetime. That’s a heck of a lot of pads and tampons.

So, to assuage my guilt and after seeing so many of their ads on Instagram, I ordered 2 pairs of Thinx underwear (classic starter set). They have other “saver set” bundles, if you’re interested.

Yes, it’s definitely an investment compared to disposable sanitary pads and tampons. But it’s really worth it in my opinion. I use my Thinx on the first and last day of my period, so I love that I’m “saving” two pads per month.

I do appreciate that Thinx uses a diverse range of bodies to model their products. I also think that the product photos are very accurate when it comes to looking at the design and fit. There are enough customer reviews on the page to help you out with sizing too.

Washing Thinx

This is important to note! Do read the care instructions that comes with the card.  You can’t use fabric softener when you wash these because “it messes with the tech”. Personally, I hand wash my Thinx then air dry it until I can add it to a load of laundry.

Fit

I’m usually a US size S (UK 8, EU 36), so I bought S on Thinx. They fit well! Very comfortable, not too tight or too loose. Felt very secure.

Hiphugger

I liked the band detail on this, it’s a bit prettier than the other models. These sat higher on my waist than the Sport model (below).

I didn’t really understand what was “moderate absorbency” when I ordered these. I tried these as a replacement for sanitary pads during my second day and I have to say it didn’t go well. Because it’s for moderate absorbency, of course!

I think the next pair of Thinx I buy will be the Super Hiphugger, for super absorbency. Hopefully that will completely replace my sanitary pads.

Sport

These felt more snug and secure than the Hiphuggers. I can’t exactly say why, I think it’s the elastic around the sides. I really enjoy wearing these, they’re like a hug around my hips. The pair I bought was also moderate absorbency.

Conclusion

I love Thinx, they’ve lasted well and I love that it replaces the sanitary pads I’d usually use on my first and last day. If you find them a bit expensive, sign up for their newsletters because they do have sales once or twice a year.
